Bob Welsh Computers opened its doors at 109 N. Main Street on Labor Day weekend, 2004 after operating for several months at 115 E. Grayson Street. Providing internet support to local Sitestar clients out of this location, along with computer hardware sales and support, along with the standard information technology services of network administration, infrastructure cabling and on-site computer repairs, we have remained at this same address without interruption or relocation ever since. We are the only street-level information technology and computer service business in downtown Galax and the only one in the area to be able to honestly say we have been in the same location for this long. Thats something we are proud of, especially in the uncertain economic climate of the past year or two.
When we say we do infrastructure cabling, what does that mean? It means we run network cabling and telecommunications cabling in accordance with industry standards. In the absence of any real building codes governing your data cabling, some people will use staples to afix your cables to door frames or along the baseboards in your building. This is NOT appropriate for data communications cabling. Staples can penetrate the sheathing of the cable and short the copper wires within, resulting in lost data transmission or even electrical shorts that will damage your equipment. Cabling should be run inside your walls wherever possible and when not possible, should be run inside conduit or asthetically-pleasing cable raceway, which is afixed to your walls with an adhesive backing, NOT stapled. And wherever cables are run above a drop ceiling, they should not be run parallel to your electric conduit, nor should they lay on drop ceiling tiles or run over flourescent light fixtures. All of these will cause electrical interference and negatively impact the reliability of your network.
With nearly 25 years of experience in hardware and networking throughout a wide range of business models, we can serve all of your needs. Contact us at 276-238-1403 if you have questions or need assistance. |
